About New York University

New York University, also referred to as simply NYU, is a private, nonsectarian research university based in New York City, which is the most populous city in the US, and the center of the New York metropolitan area, which is one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world, its population being approximated at a number of more than 8 million people, during the 2009 census estimate.

NYU was established in 1831 and is the largest private university in the United States. It is composed of 14 schools, colleges, and divisions, and occupies five major centers in Manhattan. Athletics
